New Web Site Colors and Styles

Posted in Web Site News

I have recently moved this web site to a new hosting company and in the process of moving it decided to give it a fresh look since it is almost a year old.

Anyway, send me any e-mail if you find anything that isn’t working properly.

Elsy is Now Officially a Stay-at-Home Mom

Posted in Other

In the previous post I noted that Elsy had started looking for a job since Dan Jr had turned 2 months old. Elsy hit the pavement running and had dozens of copies of her resume distributed all over Austin. She was going to several interviews every week with companies that were all very interested in her. Unfortunately though she was not getting job offers from these companies. They were telling her that she was overqualified.

After several weeks of this going on we knew that something must not be right. Everything had gone so smooth up to this point – me getting a job here, the move to Texas, the house – everything just fell into place – except this.

Our First Big Texas Thunder Storm in the House

Posted in Our House, Texas

weather.jpgWell we have had our first big thunder storm here in the new house. We had seen a few in the apartment but being in the house was quite different.

One of the differences was that you can hear the intense rain hitting the roof. In the apartment we were on the first floor so we would not here it.

It’s Hot Outside

Posted in Texas

100degrees.jpgIt’s hot outside!

This is the first day since we have moved that I have seen it hit the 100 degree mark.

Now this is the thing – it is not as hot as it gets here I have been told. I have been told that it gets up to the 110-115 range. Also, their is not really any humidity right. I hear that when it gets hot – Texas Hot – that the humidity plays a big part.

Oh, and if you notice the little cloud with the lightening come out of it – thunder storm. Like they say – everything is big in Texas. If this is like the typical thunder storm it will brush by at 35-40mph, dump 3-5 inches of rain, and then be gone within the hour.

With all of that said, we still love Texas and are not going anywhere!

Photo and Speed Updates to Web Site

Posted in The Family, Web Site News

DSC01132.JPGI have uploaded a lot of pictures of the kids that have been taken over the last few weeks. Some of them are good and some are OK quality. I am still trying to figure out all the settings on the camera. There are several cute ones though. You can see them through the recent photos or by going to each of the kid’s photos sets individually.

Also, I had noticed that the web site seemed to be running a little slow lately so I installed some software to the site that hopefully should speed it up a little.

Enjoy!

New Web Site – The Masters House

Posted in Our House, The Family, Web Site News

As mentioned in my monthly wrap-up post from last month, I have started a new web site that is specific for the house.

The reason for this is that I really want to get in-depth with photos and tricks that I learn about things that I do around the house. I want to leave this web site for family specific things like what the kids are up to etc.

Anyway, the address of the other web site is themastershouse.net.

Also, I have imported the posts about the house from this site to there so that there is a complete line of history. I will still make mention of the house on this web site but will probably link over to the other site for more info.

Enjoy!

The Walk Through Went Great

Posted in Our House

We had the walk through today at the house and things went great.

Our Superintended really hustled and got most of the major things done. The only things on the list other then paint touch-ups were -

  • Hook up the AC
  • Hook up the Gas
  • Adjust the back door so the dead bolt locks easier
  • Adjust the flow of the hot water in the bathroom
  • Install the washer and dryer
  • Install the refrigerator
  • Install the window blinds

We are scheduled to do our final walk through a week from today and then we get the keys the next day.

The House is Almost Done

Posted in Our House

DSC01014.JPGMore has happened on the house over the last couple of weeks.

The outside brick, Kitchen appliances, and carpet mainly. There are probably several things that we would not noticed also.

I guess the biggest change is that we do not get to go into the house whenever we want now. Ever since the carpet was installed the door has been locked (I still go by and peak in the windows though!).

We have our first walk through one week from tomorrow and we are scheduled to get the keys on the May 12th. Needless to say, we are very excited!

Visit to a Wild Flower Farm

Posted in Texas, The Family

DSC01000.JPGElsy, the kids, and I took a drive out to see a wild flower farm that we had seen when driving into Austin when we were moving.

It was a really nice place were they had food, gardening stuff, and a lot of plants for sale.

Mostly though they had a very large field of the Texas Blue Bonnet which is spring up along the road sides all over Texas.

A lot of progress on the house

Posted in Our House

DSC00881.JPGThere has been a lot of progress in the house over the last 2 weeks.

Last time I had posted they had just completed the texture of the drywall.

Well during the last 2 weeks all of this has been completed -

  • Walls Painted
  • Base boards, trim, and window sills added
  • Kitchen and bathroom cabinets installed
  • All faucets and toilets installed
  • Bathroom showers, tubs, and tile installed
  • Bathroom towel and toilet paper fixtures
  • Air conditioning / heater unit installed
  • All switched, outlets, and light fixtures
  • Kitchen counter and tile back splash
  • Floor tile in the Kitchen, closets, entryway, and bathrooms
  • Closet and pantry wire shelves
  • Outside brick has been started

Wow, that is a long list. I did not even realize how much had been done until adding it here.

Things that still need to be completed are the brick on the outside of the house, actually hooking up the electrical, the carpet, fence around the yard, and landscaping.

The foreman has let us know that our first walk through will be May 2nd and we are expected to have the keys on May 12th.

It is really exciting to see all the progress.
